Description

Escape from Castle Galdor is a Virtual Reality adventure game in which the player takes the role of an imprisoned wizard. In order to escape Castle Galdor, the player searches for ingredients necessary to create different elemental spells, which allow them to progress further into the castle and defeat enemies on the road.

The game was made as part of a game project course at Future Games. The development time was 4 weeks with 2 weeks of design pre production time. The team consisted of four game designers, three 2D artists, and four 3D artists.

My tasks

In this project, I was mainly responsible for level design. I grayboxed the game's ice and fire areas for testing scale and room feel in VR, and then built them using modular assets. The biggest challenge with this was to figure out an appropriate scale of environments and objects, as they initially always turned out to feel much larger when experienced in VR.

I also provided sound effects as well as environmental soundscapes mixed together and edited with Audacity, which can be heard in the video flythrough above.
